How to clean hardwood flooring

A lot of us choose to have hard wood floors in our homes these days.  They are lower maintenance than carpet, and they resist stains better than other types of flooring.  Hardwood floors are easy to keep clean and are a more sanitary option than other flooring types.  But, they are an expensive option, and we want to make sure we make the right choices when it comes to cleaning and maintaining our floors.

So, what is the best way to keep our hardwood floors clean?  At St Louis Cleaning Team, we use a simple yet proven cleaning method that we have used on our customers, and our own personal hardwood floors for years.

For the cleaning solution, in a 1 to 2 gallon bucket, we mix together:

  • One gallon of warm water
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar

To clean, we start by removing any rugs, and thoroughly vacuum all debris from the floors.

We use a micro-fiber mop to clean the floors, starting in the back of the room, left to right and working our way to the door removing dirt and grime.  These mops are a very convenient and effective way to clean hardwood floors.

Wah-lah!  You now have clean, streak- free floors.  Enjoy!
